About AWSL
The Arlington Women’s Soccer League (AWSL) is a voluntary organization in Arlington, VA that provides an opportunity for women to play soccer for recreation, increase their fitness and soccer skills, and enjoy team sports through competitive play. The AWSL is divided into two divisions: Open and Masters.
Open Division: Women over the age of 18 may play in the Open Division, which may be divided into Upper and Lower level teams or may include a Middle level as well. The Open Division games are generally played on Sunday mornings between 8:30 am and 2:00 pm. Occasionally there are Sunday evening games.
Master’s Division: Women who will be over the age of 30 during the calendar year may play in the Master’s division, which may be divided into Upper and Lower level teams or may include a Middle level as well. The Master’s Division generally plays on Monday evenings between 7:00 and 11:00 pm. Occasionally other week night games may be scheduled. Masters Division games are officiated by one referee.
The AWSL offers both a Spring and Fall Season consisting of approximately 8-10 games. Team registration deadline for the Spring Season is in mid- February with the season running April-June. Team Registration for the Fall season is mid-July with games played September - November. All players must sign an AWSL registration and waiver/consent form prior to playing any AWSL games. The AWSL By-Laws provide detailed information on league rules and eligibility requirements. Fees are determined at the beginning of each season and are due at the time of registration. Summer Season may also be held depending on team interest and field space. Summer Season runs July and August with two 1 hour games per week. Game days will vary.
